Color Sketch for Painting on Silk, John of God

Here is a color sketch I did on my iPad for another painting  on silk I want to do. I have been quite sick for the last 2 weeks but am leaving to see the healer John of God from Brazil in a few days so my hopes for healing are high.

New Sketches Betsy's Hens and December Morning

Have been struggling with the health thing for the last couple of weeks so I am spending a lot of time in bed or resting. I did one sketch on paper but the other one I did on my iPad while in bed. I am so grateful to have the iPad to use as a creative outlet when I am really struggling with the fatigue issues.

The painting with the chickens  is named after my High School friend Betsy. At our 30th high school reunion she asked me to do a painting with chickens in it, She has her own flock of laying hens and they are her beloved pets. So here it is Betsy! It will eventually become a painting on silk.

Commissioned House Portrait on Silk

I have been working on a commissioned house portrait on silk. It is my first silk painting since my relapse last fall so I am feeling really blessed to be back in the studio working on silk again. My fatigue is still very high so it is slow going but it is coming out nicely. I will post photos below of my progress so far.

Update, we got a slew of panicked emails from friends and customers this morning after posting this news last night. Everyone is wondering where we are moving to. Don't worry we are just moving 20 min up the road and Don will still be working in Brattleboro 3 Days a week. So no fears we will be close by! Just want to be in the country again.

Transparent

When a person asks me why I choose to be so open and transparent I'm honestly perplexed. What benefit would come from being the opposite? We're all on the same journey from birth to death and we can only learn from others if they share their true selves with the world. My teachers have always been the ones that displayed their wounds and flaws as if they were brightly colored prayer flags stirred by the breeze of our collective breath. 

I'm not as interested in your ascent and the comfortable place your sucess has brought you to. I'm more interested in what you brought with you from the depths of your lowest point. What did grace bestow upon you in your pit of despair? Are you willing to open an old wound, allowing the flame that still burns within it to become a beacon for others so that they may not stumble in the dark?

Show me who you really are and you will have taken the first step in healing the world.
